Ground Broken on New Amber Trails School

May 31, 2013 3:15 PM | News

School BooksGround was broken on a soggy Friday on the future site of a new kindergarten to Grade 8 school in Amber Trails.

The 85,000-square-foot LEED-certified school will include a child care centre for 64 infant and preschool students, 40 spaces for kindergarten/nursery, and before- and after-school students.

“Northwest Winnipeg is a vibrant community, attracting new housing developments and a growing number of families each year,” Premier Greg Selinger said. “This new school will not only provide students with a quality education but will bring families together as a gathering place for community events.”

Students attending the school will come from new housing developments in Amber Trails, West St. Paul and the Maples. Approximately 625 students will be able to attend the schol, with future expansion plans able to accomodate 800.

The first classes will begin in the fall of 2015.
