The City of Winnipeg’s Animal Services Agency is looking to place 44 dogs into loving homes this weekend as part of a three-day dog sale.

One of those dogs is Walter (above), who was found in the North End in mid-April. Staff say the six-year-old Shepard mix has responded well when people play ball with him and take him for walks. He also already knows how to sit and shake a paw.

“We know his name is Walter from the ear tattoo he received around 2008,” said Leland Gordon, chief operation officer of the Animal Services Agency.

“The address and phone number associated with the tattoo have proved a dead end and no one has come looking for Walter. We are now trying to find Walter a new home as his owners have failed to contact us.”

All in-house dog adoptions are $99 this weekend and include license, micro-chip, spay/neuter, basic shots, food and pet health insurance.

The sale runs from noon to 5:30 p.m. today and noon to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday at 1057 Logan Avenue.
