Two Women Killed in Crash Near Highway 9

RCMP Crest LogoTwo women were killed early Saturday morning in a single-vehicle rollover north of Winnipeg.

Emergency crews responded to River Road near Highway 9 just after 5:30 a.m. According to RCMP, a 2005 Buick Century was travelling westbound on River Road at a high rate of speed when it left the roadway, rolling over at least once, and struck a utility pole.

Both occupants in the vehicle were pronounced deceased at the scene. Their identities are yet to be confirmed.

Police are continuing to investigate.

UPDATE: Monday, June 3 — The two deceased have been identified as a 17-year-old from Winnipeg, who was driving, and an 18-year-old from Winnipeg who was the sole passenger.
