The Manitoba Bisons are preparing to host the first annual Bison Sprint IM Invitational with a special celebrity guest.
Olympian Brent Hayden will make an appearance at the event on Saturday, June 8, being held at the Pan Am Pool.
The 29-year-old is one of Canada’s most decorated Olympic swimmers and will perform introductions for competitors at the invitational.
The event will have over 200 swimmers participate — mostly from Manitoba. The format will combine preliminaries and finals in a single session, with competition focusing on the excitement of swimming sprint 50 metre events.
Organizers say the purpose of the event is not to find the fastest swimmer, but to ensure they all leave with a great competitive experience.
