Paddles will be working overtime this weekend during the first annual MEC Winnipeg Paddlefest.
Mountain Equipment Co-op is throwing the event at FortWhyte Alive on Sunday, June 9 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Paddlers of all types can participate in skills clinics, demos and gear swaps, with workshops held on-land and on-water covering topics like safety and technique. Novices will discover helpful information and a chance to try the sport, while the more adept paddler will enjoy professional tips and tricks, and a firsthand look at some of the latest gear.
While canoes and kayaks and stand up paddleboards (SUPs) will be available for use at MEC Winnipeg Paddlefest, participants are welcome to bring their own boats and enjoy the lakes at FortWhyte Alive.
Advance registration for MEC Winnipeg Paddlefest is required by e-mailing winnipegpaddlefest@mec.ca or visiting MEC.ca.
Admission to the public is free.
