Winnipeg Police CrestWinnipeg police said they have arrested a man after he allegedly fled the scene of an early morning crash on Wednesday.

Police said two cars were driving through the intersection at York Avenue and Smith Street at about 12:20 a.m. when a third vehicle, a GMC van, ran a red light and hit one of the cars, causing it to hit the second car.

The driver of the van didn’t stay at the scene, and instead fled the area. The driver was picked up later. People in the cars were not seriously injured, said police.

Sukhwinder Sidu, 29, has been charged with two counts of drunk driving causing bodily harm, refusing a breathalyzer and failing to remain at the scene of an accident.
