There’s nothing like a solid cross-town rivalry to open up the 2013-14 university volleyball season.
The Manitoba Bisons and Winnipeg Wesmen volleyball teams will clash to open up the Canada West regular season on October 24. Winnipeg hosts Manitoba as part of the Bisons’ 22-game schedule, which will serve as the volleyball portion of the 23rd Annual Duckworth Challenge.
The following night, October 25, the Wesmen men travel south to the U of M campus for a rematch, while the women’s teams meet on Saturday, October 26.
After the first conference weekend, the Bisons go on the road for their first road trip against the UBC Thunderbirds on November 1-2 weekend. The Bisons will have three more home weekend series in the first half when they host Saskatchewan on November 8-9.
Winnipeg will play host to the Regina Cougars before heading out on the road to face the Mount Royal University Cougars on November 9-10. Winnipeg returns to their home court on November 15-16 to face the UBC Thunderbirds. After a road trip to UBC Okanagan on Nov 22-23, Winnipeg wraps up their first half schedules at home against the University of Alberta on Nov 29-30.
