To help brighten the lives of seriously ill children at the Children’s Hospital of Winnipeg — HSC, a new fun centre has opened.

The Starlight Fun Centre offers kids everything from watching movies to playing their favourite Nintendo Wii games. The media units can be easily wheeled into ICUs, emergency departments or individual hospital rooms to bring smiles back to the faces of children who are unable to leave their own beds.

“The Fun Centre unit is an incredible means of providing our patients with distraction, normalization, peer interaction and of course, plenty of fun,” said Renée Ethans with the Children’s Hospital of Winnipeg.

“The Fun Centre, with its portable size, mobility, games on hard drive and wired Wii controllers works perfectly in a hospital environment. We have placed this model in our Children’s Clinic, where it will be thoroughly utilized and enjoyed.”

The centre was provided by Starlight Children’s Foundation Canada after a donation from Gamma-Dynacare Medical Laboratories.
