Brush Up WinnipegTwo city houses will be painted by the community this weekend as the first Brush Up Winnipeg event of the year gets underway.

Volunteers will paint in three, one-day large-scale paint days today, August 24 and September 7. Properties have been chosen based on financial or physical restraints of the home owner.

Take Pride Winnipeg! is hosting the initiative and have chosen 367 Lanark Street, painted by University of Manitoba’s Explore Program and 873 Mulvey Avenue, painted by MTS Allstream, as the first two recipients of a spruced up exterior look.

Since beginning in 2006, 59 homes have been painted. Eligible applicants are 65 years of age or older or have a permanent disability and own and reside in the home that needs painting.
