Construction to Begin on Eastbound Portage Avenue

City of WinnipegThe City of Winnipeg will start pavement rehabilitation on a stretch of eastbound Portage Avenue on Monday.

The four-month project will target Portage between St. John Ambulance Way to Sherburn Street to repair pavement, curbs and sidewalks.

Traffic lane restrictions will be in place on eastbound and westbound Portage, and on St. John’s Ambulance Way, while limited sidewalk access and pedestrian access to businesses will be maintained.

There will be no loading zones or street parking on the south side of Portage Avenue during construction.

Two eastbound lanes on Portage Avenue will remain open at all times with three lanes open during the weekday morning rush hour where possible.

Winnipeg Transit routes will continue to operate on Portage Avenue throughout construction.
