Canada Day celebrations will be going strong this year in Osborne Village after federal funding was announced on Tuesday.

The Osborne Village Business Improvement Zone has received $12,525 through the Celebrate Canada project, meant to support activities in the Village on July 1.

“This year we are highlighting family entertainment and promotion of health and wellness, in efforts to showcase Osborne Village for all aspects it has to offer to our community,” said Stephanie Meilleur, executive director of the Osborne Village BIZ.

More than 70,000 people flock to the Village on Canada Day to enjoy a variety of local and cultural entertainment, a handy-craft market, and street-side shopping. The two-day celebration is Winnipeg’s largest and longest-running street festival.
