If your summery plans today call for visiting the splash pad at Variety Heritage Adventure Park, maybe hold off until this afternoon.
Parks Canada is temporarily closing the site to allow for the re-application of a special surfacing on the concrete.
The “shark grit” surfacing makes the splash pad less slippery when it is wet, making it safer for its users.
Weather permitting, the splash pad will re-open at 1 p.m.
The park opened in 2012 at The Forks, providing an active-learning and discovery setting with unique play structures that are based on the history of the area.
