The City of Winnipeg will begin its war against elm bark beetles on Monday.
Weather permitting, the elm bar beetle control program will treat elms on public and private properties along river corridors, and on public and private properties where diseased elms have been identified and removed. The beetles are carries of Dutch Elm Disease.
Crews will target Insect Management Area 50 in the following neighbourhoods to start — Jefferson, Kildonan Park, and Seven Oaks.
Treatment will occur between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, weather permitting. Treatment will occur on an ongoing basis until fall. Public advisories will be issued on Fridays at Winnipeg.ca.
