The Winnipeg Jets have confirmed an online report that forward Alexander Burmistrov has left the organization to sign a two-year contract with the Ak Bars Kazan of the KHL.
Jets general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff issued the following statement on Monday:
“Through our conversations and correspondence with Alex and his agent, it became apparent Alex had a desire to continue his development as a young player in the KHL. He remains a very talented player within the Jets organization and we will continue to monitor his progress and development going forward.”
In 44 games with the Jets last season, the 21-year-old centre had four goals and six assists.
