RCMP Crest LogoThe body of a pilot who was flying a helicopter that crashed near Gillam, Manitoba on July 2 has been recovered.

The 69-year-old Surrey, BC man was flying the Bell 206 helicopter when it went down in a remote area about 50 kilometres west of Gillam at Gull Lake.

The aircraft was reported as overdue earlier in the day and a search operation was launched with the help of a Royal Canadian Air Force CC-130 from 17 Wing Winnipeg.
