Planetarium’s Summer Shows: ‘Ice Worlds’ and ‘Dark’

July 10, 2013 7:49 AM | Entertainment

Two new shows at the Manitoba Museum’s Planetarium is making use of the facility’s new Digistar technology in a big way.

Ice Worlds and Dark are now playing just in time for summer holidays.

Ice Worlds offers a tour of the solar system’s icy landscapes — especially on planet Earth — and is suitable for ages 10 and up.

“Ice is key to life on earth, and not just to cool your favorite summer beverage,” said Scott Young, manager of science communications and visitor experiences. “Ice Worlds explores the many roles of ice, both here on Earth and in other places around the solar system.”

Dark is a fulldome movie that explains and explores the nature of dark matter, the missing 80% of the universe’s mass. The movie is suitable for adult audiences.

Both shows are on now until September 2.
