Manitoba LogoConstruction is underway on 11 new science labs in eight high schools across Winnipeg.

Newly-renovated labs have already opened at Vincent Massey, Miles Macdonell, River East and Garden City collegiates.

“Access to the latest technology supports teachers in providing our students with high-quality, engaging science education, which opens the wonder and mystery of the world of science,” said Education Minister Nancy Allan on Wednesday.

Design work on labs inside Dakota and Glenlawn collegiates is also underway. Allan said throughout the province, construction is taking place on 19 labs in 14 schools.

Each science lab renovation will also receive $25,000 for new state-of-the-art equipment, such as Smart Boards, iPads for student use, digital microscopes and self-contained ecosystem aquariums.
