The Inner City Wesmen basketball program at the University of Winnipeg is benefiting from donations made by a local yoga studio.

Complete proceeds from Yoga Public’s Karma classes have been donated to the team to the girls’ team to help them cover travel and lodging expenses for out-of-town tournaments.

“We’re very excited to have the support of a local business that understands the needs of a program such as ours, serving the inner city and young women who deserve an equal chance,” said head coach Bob Axworthy.

The inner city cause not only helps the girls learn the benefits of teamwork and motivation, but it encourages them to stay in school and do better for themselves. Axworthy has helped develop several other inner city programs, such as Rep Ur Hood and the R2W Project.
