Harley-Davidson motorcycle owners have organized a charity ride in support of the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba this weekend.
The first-ever Toy Run will leave from Gaslight Harley-Davidson Sales in Morden on Saturday, July 27 and travel to Assiniboia Downs. The entry fee for riders is a new, unwrapped toy for the Children’s Hospital.
“This is actually something I’ve had for years in the back of my head,” said Terry Walde of the Southern Manitoba Harley Owners Group.
“Years ago, my stepson was in the hospital for just over four months so we did a lot of trips going back and forth. A close friend of mine’s son passed away from leukemia at the age of five. Everyone’s been impacted by a child some way. They’re very vulnerable and we need to be able to protect them. Who else do the children have?”
Registration for the Toy Run will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Gaslight Harley-Davidson Sales, 999 Thornhill Street in Morden. The ride will begin at 10 a.m. Anyone interested in dropping off an unwrapped toy can do so by visiting Gaslight Harley-Davidson Sales.
