Volleyball CanadaCanada’s National Women’s Volleyball Team is hosting a series of matches in the province next month against the Peruvian Women’s National Team.

From August 20-23, the exhibition series will be a precursor to the NORCECA Continental Championship — to be held September 16-21 in Omaha, Nebraska.

“I am very pleased that we can play these matches against Peru as it is a long summer with a lot of training,” said Canada head coach Arnd Ludwig. “It gives us a competition opportunity to help prepare for the NORCECA Championship. We played them twice, winning both times, but over the past couple years, the record with Peru is pretty even so we will have interesting and close games.”

Canada’s Winnipeg-based team is ranked 22nd in the world to Peru’s 17th-place ranking, and last faced each other in the Pan Am Cup competition in June. Canada was victorious in both matches, winning the first 3-2, and the second 3-0.

These teams will face each other twice in Winnipeg, and once in Dauphin, Manitoba:

  • Match #1: Tuesday, August 20 at 7pm at the Investors Group Athletic Centre, University of Manitoba
  • Match #2: Wednesday, August 21 at 7pm at the Dauphin Regional Comprehensive Secondary School
  • Match #3: Friday, August 23 at 7pm at the Investors Group Athletic Centre, University of Manitoba
