Winnipeg Police CrestWinnipeg police are warning business owners and their customers of a pair of scammers possibly heading to Winnipeg.

Police said the scammers have been committing Point of Sale Terminal frauds in Western Canada, including Brandon and cities in Saskatchewan.

The scammers head to restaurants with wireless portable debit terminals, said police, and switch out the terminals with a different one stolen from another restaurant when the server is distracted. Then they use the terminal to credit back funds onto debit or credit cards.

Police are looking for a white man, 50-60 years old, with salt and pepper hair and missing teeth. They are also looking for an East Indian or Asian man, about 30. They may be driving a 2000 Dodge Caravan with B.C. plates.
