Authentic Vikings put on a demonstration Friday, August 2, 2013 to promote the 124th Icelandic Festival of Manitoba in Gimli. The annual festival, which runs until Monday, attracts between 40,000 to 50,000 visitors every year. Iceland’s prime minister, Sigmundur Gunnlaugsson, is a special guest to the festival this year with his wife, Anna Palsdottir. The Viking village, which has an authentic 800 A.D. feel, will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. (STAN MILOSEVIC / CHRISD.CA)
