Winnipeg’s New Flyer Industries has been awarded a contract to manufacture 530 electric-trolley transit buses for King County Metro Transit of Seattle.
The five-year contract will see 530 Xcelsior heavy-duty buses (or 710 equivalent units or EUs) in both 40 and 60 feet configurations.
The electric-trolley buses will be based upon New Flyer’s best-in-class Xcelsior platform and will utilize overhead lines to power the electric propulsion system equipment supplied by Vossloh Kiepe.
