A Winnipeg man has been charged with numerous offences, including sexual assault, after a home was broken into in the Grant Park neighbourhood on Sunday.
Winnipeg police said a man broke into a home in the 900 block of Carter Avenue at about 5:20 a.m. He made his way to a bedroom and woke the 25-year-old woman sleeping there. Armed with a weapon, the man demanded sexual favours. She screamed, waking the home’s other resident, a 26-year-old woman.
The man screamed threats at the woman as he left the house. He was found by police in the area at 3:15 p.m. later that day.
Police have charged Richard Raymond Dyck, 27, with breaking and entering, wearing a disguise, sexual assault with a weapon, uttering threats, uttering threats to kill, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and possession of counterfeit money.
