Three Sent to Hospital in Semi-Pickup Crash

August 9, 2013 1:46 PM | News

RCMP Crest LogoThree people were sent to hospital Thursday after a crash on Highway 50 involving a semi-trailer truck and a pickup truck.

RCMP say shortly after 12:30 p.m. a semi was travelling northbound when a pickup truck pulled onto the highway near the Amaranth Cemetery. The semi driver was able to take evasive action to avoid directly hitting the pickup, but both vehicles did collide.

The 78-year-old man driving the pickup and his 23-year-old male passenger — both from Sandy Bay First Nation — were taken to hospital in Portage la Prairie, along with the semi driver. All three were treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Alcohol is not considered a factor in the crash and police continue to investigate.
