Three new spray pads will be built in three Winnipeg communities in time for next year’s summer season.
The city and province and jointly funding the spray pads at Waverley Heights Community Centre, Gateway Recreation Centre and Lindsay Wilson Park in Island Lakes. The province is in for up to $1.5 million of the cost, while the city will fund the operating costs of each new facility.
“Water activities can be the best part of outdoor summer fun and spray pads provide flat surfaces that are easily accessible for children of all ages and abilities,” said Local Government Minister Ron Lemieux.
Construction of the three new spray pads is expected to begin in the spring of 2014.
