More than 700 cyclists will take to Manitoba’s roads this weekend for the 24th annual Biking to the Viking MS Bike Tour.
Part of the MS Society of Canada’s national MS Bike program, the event on Saturday and Sunday (August 24-25) is one of the largest cycling series in North America.
The ride will begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday at the Veterans Memorial Sports Complex in Stonewall. Participants will then gear up for a 160 km round-trip trek down the province’s highways to Gimli, where they will spend the night. The series picks back up on Sunday with a return trip to Stonewall.
“It is such an inspirational weekend,” said Donna Boyd, president of the MS Society of Canada, Manitoba Division. “The energy, the emotion — it’s an experience that no one ever forgets.”
Cyclists of all ages and abilities participate and must raise a minimum of $300 to be in the tour. To register or to donate towards the cause in finding a cure for MS, visit MSBikeTours.ca.
