Apologetic Would-Be Thief Nabbed by Police

Winnipeg Police CrestA 44-year-old man was arrested early Wednesday after a failed robbery attempt.

Winnipeg police say the man tried to rob a gas bar in the 700 block of Keewatin Street just before 2 a.m. by threatening that he had a weapon. The man demanded cash, but was refused. He fled in a vehicle before police arrived.

While officers were still at the scene, the man returned to apologize to the clerk and was immediately taken into custody.

The would-be thief was charged with robbery and remains in custody.
