August 23, 2013 6:25 PM | News

RCMP Crest LogoA 14-year-old Waywayseecappo boy has died after being hit by a vehicle while riding his bike.

The accident happened Friday afternoon on Highway 45 on Waywayseecappo First Nation when the cyclist veered into traffic of the eastbound lane, according to RCMP.

Police say the 64-year-old Waywayseeccapo man driving the vehicle — also travelling east — tried to avoid hitting the cyclist, but was unable to prevent the collision.

The cyclist was taken to hospital in unresponsive condition, where he was pronounced dead.

Alcohol is not considered a contributing factor and police continue to investigate.
