A highway crash just west of Brandon on Sunday night claimed the life of a 17-year-old male.
The teen driver was travelling southbound on Rugby Road at around 10:15 p.m. when he attempted to cross Highway 1 in a 2004 Chrysler Sebring.
The vehicle was hit by a westbound 2007 Chevrolet pickup truck being driven by a 46-year-old Altona man. The driver of the Sebring was transferred to Brandon General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The driver of the pickup and his 20-year-old female passenger from Winnipeg received minor injuries.
RCMP aren’t releasing the name of the victim.
Including this crash, five people were killed in highway accidents over the weekend.
