Teen Charged in House Party Beating Death

Winnipeg Police CrestAn 18-year-old man is dead and a 17-year-old male is facing charges after a house party in Transcona early Saturday.

Winnipeg were called to the 100 block of Nevens Bay at around 1 a.m., where they say an 18-year-old man was assaulted in the upper body. He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, which he later succumbed to.

Police say two partygoers got into a verbal altercation when it turned physical, resulting in the assault.

A 17-year-old Winnipeg male has been charged with manslaughter and remains in custody at the Manitoba Youth Centre.

The name of the victim isn’t being released.
