The day jet-setting Brandonites have been waiting for is here.
The first WestJet Encore flight will depart the Wheat City today at 1:20 p.m. to head west to Calgary.
The airline announced in May it would begin operating the daily flights as part of its expanded fleet to service smaller markets with its new 78-seat Bombardier Q400 turboprop aircrafts.
Return flights will arrive in Brandon daily at 12:50 p.m., departing from Calgary at 9:50 a.m. MT.
More than 10,000 signatures were collected as part of a petition and campaign to attract the Calgary-based airline to Westman.
