The Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed import linebacker/safety Aaron Rouse and import offensive lineman Colt Schulte to their practice roster on Thursday.
Rouse is a Virginia native who was a third round (89th overall) draft pick of the Green Bay Packers in the 2007 NFL Draft and went on to play in 41 career NFL games, including 18 starts, with the Packers and New York Giants. In his amateur career, Rouse never missed a game at Virginia Tech in four seasons, recording 217 total tackles, 12 tackles for loss, five interceptions, four forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
Schulte comes from Bagnell, Missouri and played in 50 games over four years for the Missouri Western State University Griffons, including 38 starts, splitting time between guard and tackle.
At the same time, the Blue Bombers released import defensive back Joe Sampson and import offensive lineman Aderious Simmons from the practice roster.
The Bombers host the Saskatchewan Roughriders Sunday in the annual Banjo Bowl game at Investors Group Field.
