LoblawSuperstore and Extra Foods members voted 98.3% in favour of strike action late Sunday.

UFCW Local 832 members in Manitoba weren’t impressed with what 17 days of bargaining accomplished and turned down the company’s offer. The union bargaining committee received the strike mandate to take back to the table for the final five days of bargaining set to resume on Saturday, September 21.

“Its disappointing that Loblaw, who just recently purchased Shoppers Drug Mart stores for $12.4 billon and post billions in sales, won’t offer their members fair wages and respectful working conditions,” said UFCW Local 832 president Jeff Traeger.

More than 3,000 Loblaw employees throughout Manitoba are represented by UFCW Local 832.
