Man Killed After Fuel Tanker Flips South of Melita

RCMP Crest LogoA single-vehicle crash involving a fuel tanker has killed a 52-year-old man near Elva, Manitoba.

The crash happened Monday shortly after 5 p.m. on Highway 83 about 15 kilometres south of Melita.

According to RCMP, the driver of the tanker was the only occupant in the truck when it lost control and overturned. The tanker was hauling 15,000 litres of diesel fuel at the time of the collision and efforts are being made to contain a leak at the scene.

The driver was taken to Melita Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. His name isn’t being released.
