A mural to honour the legacy of late Winnipeg Mayor Bill Norrie was unveiled on Tuesday.

The mural — painted by local artists Mandy van Leeuwen and Michel St. Hilaire — is located on the south side of Ellice Avenue at Langside Street.

Norrie’s wife, Helen, was on hand for the revealing, which was organized by the West End BIZ.

“This mural honours and celebrates Bill Norrie’s life and recognizes his contribution to the City of Winnipeg,” Mayor Sam Katz said. “It was a pleasure to help support this project.”

Norrie passed away in July 2012. He was the city’s mayor from 1979 to 1992.
