Winnipeg race car driver David Richert is immersing himself in the premiere of the new Ron Howard-directed movie about the sport.
Richert is hosting an advance screening of “RUSH” on September 25. Set against the glamorous golden age of Formula 1 racing, the movie portrays the exhilarating true story of two great racing rivals — English playboy James Hunt and his methodical opponent Niki Lauda.
In conjunction with the film screening, Richert will also be on-hand at Speedworld Indoor Kart Track for the RUSH Challenge, an event where the public will have an opportunity to test their skill by racing against a professional race car driver.
The screening will be held at Empire Theatres Grant Park at 7 p.m. Passes are available through Speedworld, 575 Berry Street.
The following night, September 26, Richert will be on-hand to post a fast lap time and then challenge the public to see if they can better it. All those in attendance at the RUSH advance screening will receive a pass for one free race at Speedworld between 5-7 p.m.
