Winnipeg Art GalleryStorm and Spirit: The Eckhardt-Gramatté Collection of German Expressionist Art will open Nuit Blanche at the Winnipeg Art Gallery on September 28.

The public opening begins a free all night arts extravaganza at the WAG beginning at 6 p.m. and running until 4 a.m. the next morning.

Five-thousand people were attracted to Nuit Blanche last year, which is part of the national Culture Days events.

“Nuit Blanche is a wonderful way of reaching out and introducing contemporary art to people who might not be familiar with it, to bring in visitors who may never have come to the WAG before,” said WAG executive director Stephen Borys. “We have a wide range of attendance at the event, from the under-20s to those in their forties and fifties, and each year attendance gets better and better.”

Other activities include a spoken word performance by artist Kelly Mark and premiere by Jolene Bailie of a new dance work, as well as unique audio/visual performances and collaborations by Toxic Prophecy.
