Richer Man Charged After Crash with RCMP Cruiser

RCMP Crest LogoA 24-year-old man is facing charges after allegedly driving drunk and hitting a RCMP cruiser on Saturday morning.

Steinbach RCMP were on patrol just before 1 a.m. on Road 37N in the RM of Ste. Anne when their vehicle was struck by a Buick Century that had driven through a stop sign.

Both officers and the four people in the Buick were taken to Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach with non life-threatening injuries.

Cameron Kostash of Richer has been charged with four counts of criminal negligence causing bodily harm, four courts of impaired driving causing bodily harm, three counts of uttering threats to kill police, two counts of failing to comply with a probation order, and resisting arrest.

He remains in custody at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
