Winnipeg police are looking for those responsible for assaulting a 32-year-old woman and then tossing her out of a vehicle on Thursday.
Witnesses in the area of Brazier Street and Helmsdale Avenue in East Kildonan watched as the bloody woman ran into traffic looking for help shortly before 6 p.m.
Julie Moncrief, who happened to be nearby at the time, wrote on Facebook that the woman was hit in the head at least eight times with the sharp end of a hammer.
Police say the victim was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
“I waited with her and a few other bystanders for the police and paramedics,” Moncrief said.
Police said it’s believed the victim was assaulted inside the vehicle and then left in a back lane.
