A string of thefts in rural Manitoba has come to an end after RCMP arrested a home care worker for her alleged involvement.
Earlier this week, police warned of seniors being duped when they let a stranger into their home to use the washroom. Once inside, the woman would make off with purses and sometimes assault the elderly victims.
The incidents occurred in the areas of Russell, Foxwarren and the RM of Silver Creek.
On Wednesday, police arrested Debbie Ann Smith, 50, of Binscarth, Manitoba. At the time, Smith was employed as a home care worker.
She faces 20 charges, including for break and enter, robbery, theft, robbery with violence and wearing a mask.
Anyone with information on the crimes or who may have been a victim are urged to contact Russell RCMP at (204) 773-3051.
