Reproductive rights advocates are rallying across the country today to defend a woman’s right to choose when it comes to abortion.

Non-profit organizations will hold a counter “Raise Our Voice for Choice” rally against the anti-choice organization Campaign Life Coalition’s Defund Abortion Rally.

The Women’s Health Clinic of Winnipeg is one of the groups standing up for reproductive rights. They say the CLC’s Defund Abortion Rally is not about money, but rather an attempt to reopen the debate on choice.

“The Defund Abortion Rally is not about money; it is a tactic that anti-choice groups are using to attempt to reopen the debate on choice any way they can,” said Joan Dawkins, executive director of Women’s Health Clinic. “Reproductive choice is not up for debate.”

The rally will take place at the Manitoba legislature from noon to 1:30 p.m. and is open to all.
