A fundraising adventurer on a cross-country run in support of sick children is in Winnipeg this week.
Jamie McDonald arrived on Sunday as part of his 8,000-kilometre journey in 275 days. The marathoner began in St. John’s, Newfoundland with a goal of reaching Vancouver, all while carrying/pushing a 66-pound bag of supplies.
McDonald plans to raise $40,000 for Canadian charities, like the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba. To date, nearly $31,000 has been raised in support of a Children’s Miracle Network hospital in Toronto.
McDonald will make cheque presentations at local businesses and schools today before taking in a family fun run at Assiniboine Park on Tuesday and making additional presentations on Wednesday.
To support McDonald’s efforts while he’s in Manitoba, donations can be made online.
