Calling all Canadian songwriters (and hockey fans), you could write the next great hockey song.
CBC has launched a promotion called Hockey Night in Canada Song Quest, where fans can submit their best song to be featured in the opening of “Hockey Night in Canada.”
Naturally, Stompin’ Tom Connors’ shoes are very large to fill, but the contest is hoping to single out one talented songwriter worthy of having their work heard by millions.
The best entries will be played on CBC Radio, and the winner will get to record their version with Canadian rocker Joel Plaskett. The winner will also perform their tune live at the Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada concert.
The deadline to enter is November 20. Voting will begin on November 23.
