DNA Sample Puts Carjacker Behind Bars: Police

Winnipeg Police CrestA DNA sample has resulted in an arrest related to a carjacking that took place more than three years ago.

On February 11, 2010 a 55-year-old man was carjacked in the 2200 block of Pembina Highway.

Winnipeg police say the suspect forced his way into the vehicle and confronted the driver with a firearm. The driver was robbed of cash and then pepper sprayed in a nearby parking lot before fleeing the vehicle.

The stolen vehicle was later recovered in the 1000 block of Markham Road.

Christopher Lee Pottinger, 36, of Winnipeg has been charged with numerous offences after an investigation by the forensics unit. He remains in custody.
