Mountie Charged with Assault in Cross Lake

October 9, 2013 2:17 PM | News

RCMP Crest LogoRCMP have charged one of their own after an alleged assault on a man at the Cross Lake detachment in May.

An 18-year-old man from Pimicamak Cree Nation lodged the complaint on May 21 — three weeks after being arrested — citing excessive force was used during the booking process.

After an investigation, Manitoba Justice recommended charges against 29-year-old Const. Jason Ross MacGillivray. The five-year service member appeared in Cross Lake provincial court on Tuesday and has been suspended with pay.
