Volunteers Needed for FIFA World Cup in Winnipeg

FIFAVolunteers are being sought out to help with the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015 when it comes to Winnipeg in two years.

A national volunteer program was launched Tuesday in Ottawa to put the call out for thousands of volunteers in each of the host cities.

Twenty-four international teams will compete in 52 matches over a 23-day period in June 2015. Each selected city will host four teams, with Investors Group Field at the University of Manitoba hosting the games locally.

“As part of the team helping to deliver these two world-class competitions, volunteers will play an important role in establishing a meaningful legacy for sport and women’s soccer in Canada,” said Victor Montagliani, chair of the national organizing committee for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015.

“It would be impossible to stage this event without the effort and passion of those committed to volunteering.”

Volunteer registration for the Cup is being handled online.
