Altona has been chosen to host the 2014 Chicken Chef Provincial Mixed Curling Championship. The southern Manitoba town will welcome curlers March 20-23 to the Altona Curling Club.
The decision to host the event in Altona was made after the successful completion of the Mondetta Senior Ladies, Credit Union Diamond Ladies, and most recently, Scotties Tournament of Hearts.
Club president Venessa Penner said the executive was enthused about the opportunity to show off the facility, and the championship experience of veteran ice technician Terry Peters.
A total of 16 teams will compete for the provincial crown, which defending champion Sean Grassie currently holds. Grassie captured his third title in Carman earlier this year.
