Winnipeg Police CrestPolice have charged a 23-year-old man after they say he drove his vehicle into pedestrians early Sunday morning.

The suspect was socializing with friends at an establishment in the 600 block of Archibald Street before the incident began. The man was eventually thrown out due to his disruptive behaviour.

Police say he then got into a Chevrolet Impala and collided with a taxicab in front of the business. The man repeatedly rammed the taxi, eventually striking the driver who was standing nearby.

The driver of the Impala took off, only to return and drive on the southbound sidewalk where three more pedestrians were struck.

The driver attempted to flee the scene on foot, but was pursued by onlookers. He was eventually arrested and remains in police custody.

The pedestrians who were hit are in stable condition.
