Bisons, Huskies Reigniting Prairie Football Rivalry

October 18, 2013 8:29 AM | Sports

In their second-last game of the season, the Manitoba Bisons football team has a crucial matchup ahead of them tonight.

Second place implications are on the line as the Bisons (3-3) travel to Saskatoon to face the No. 7-ranked Saskatchewan Huskies on their home turf. The Huskies (4-2) have already landed a playoff spot in the post-season, while the Herd is tied for third with UBC with six points.

The two rival teams will have met twice this season, when Manitoba lost 36-34 at home on September 7.

“I really do think, at this point, it’s game of the year in Canada West,” Bisons head coach Brian Dobie said, noting that a home field advantage for the Brown and Gold would be ideal for a playoff game if they win in Saskatoon. “The opportunity to host a playoff game at Investors Group Field would be a tremendous advantage.”

Kickoff is 8 p.m. CT at Griffiths Stadium. The game will be available via a live webcast at CanadaWest.tv.
